The industrious city of Wuxi, situated on the famous LakeTaihu, was founded under the Han Dynasty, over 2,000 years ago. China tour-goers will admire its vast networks of canals and cobbled streets and pass through its exquisite classical Chinese. When the Grand Canal was finished in the 6th century AD, Wuxi’s industry was given an opportunity to boom. At this point, silk and cotton factories emerged that would make Wuxi famous. Further industrialization after the 1949 revolution led to the production of more textiles, electronic goods and percussion instruments. Wuxi is one of the fastest growing economies in the country.
