Day 1 Arrive Beijing
When you arrive in Beijing, you’ll meet your China tour guide and transfer to the 5-star Beijing International Hotel.

Day 2 Beijing (B/L)
The first full day of your China holiday is all about exploring Beijing. Tiananmen Square is the first stop. Considered the largest city square in the world, it can hold crowds of up to 1 million people. It is located near some amazing sights: Tiananmen to its north, near the entrance to the Forbidden City, and Zhengyangmen to the south.
Once the home of Ming Dynasty emperors, the Forbidden City has been converted into a palace museum filled with thousands of beautiful treasures.

Located about 20 kilometres from the city centre, the Summer Palace is a stunning imperial estate which houses many gardens, palaces, classical-style structures and the man-made Kunming Lake. In these tranquil gardens, the Qing royal families spent leisure time and celebrated anniversaries. The palace features over 3,000 individual buildings surrounded by hills, paths and lakes.

In the evening, allow us to recommend an optional Legend of Kung Fu Show with Peking Duck dinner. The show takes place thousands of years ago, in a mysterious land called the Middle Kingdom. We follow a young boy who, through practicing Zen Buddhism and kung fu, reaches the enlightenment. This exciting and professionally produced show is one of the best ways to get to know Chinese culture.
The show costs CAD100 per person, with return hotel transfers.

Day 3 Beijing (B/L)
Beijing offers some of China’s best-known historical and cultural attractions. Perhaps the most renowned is the Great Wall of China. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, this 8,850-kilometre wall passes through  many other cities, but Beijing holds many notable renovated sections. You will visit the Badaling Section for a two-hour tour. En route, visit a jade stone carving workshop.
On the way back to Beijing, the tour stops for a brief photo opportunity at Beijing’s Olympic landmarks. So far, your travels in China have taken you through China’s magnificent past; now, you’ll have an opportunity to see more recent accomplishments: the Bird’s Nest Stadium (or National Stadium) and the Water Cube (or the Beijing National Aquatics Centre). Both impressive edifices were constructed for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, but have been recently converted for continued use by locals and tourists.

Day 4 Beijing (B/L)
On day four of your China tour, you’ll visit some of the most striking sites in Beijing.
No China vacation package would be complete without a visit to China's most famous temple. The Temple of Heaven stands within the 667 acre Tiantan Park, and is where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvests. The whole area is enclosed by a wall with a round northern section (heaven) and a square southern section (earth). The principle buildings are at either end: the Qiniandian (Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests) and the Huangqiongyu (Imperial Vault of Heaven). The latter houses the famous Echo Wall and the Triple Sound Stones.
After the Temple of Heaven, you’ll have an opportunity to visit a pearl factory to learn about this ancient and beautiful industry. Beijing is famous for some of the best pearl jewellery in the world.

The next stop in this China vacation package is a visit to a hutong, a type of neighborhood unique to China. If you are fed up with high-rises and busy streets, enter Beijing's hutongs for your best chance to experience Beijing as it was before modern architecture and city planning. You’ll be escorted through narrow alleys on a traditional Chinese pedicab, then have a chance to meet with a local family. There are thousands of hutongs in BeijingCity, with the earliest being built around 1271 and the latest in 1911. A visit to a Beijing hutong gives China tour-goers a glimpse at what life in the city was like for many centuries.

Day 5 Beijing - Xian (B/L)
After breakfast, the Beijing portion of your China tour is over. Transfer to the airport for a flight to Xian. Xian is an ancient city full of cultural attractions and unforgettable sites.
After being met by your guide, you will visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum. The museum was once housed in a former Confucian Temple at the foot of the city wall; however, a new section was opened to the public in 1991. This modern museum includes a collection of 110,000 historic relics.
Your Best of China Tour continues with a visit to the venerable Wild Goose Pagoda. Built in 648 and used by Tang Dynasty monk Xuan Zang to translate Buddhist texts, the square pyramid–shaped pagoda has become a symbol of Xian. It towers 73 metres above the city. From the top, you’ll be treated to one of the best views in Xian.
You’ll spend the night at the Jian Guo Hotel Xian.

Day 6 Xian (B/L/D)
Day six of your China tour includes a daytrip to 3rd emperor Qin Shi Huang’s tomb, site of the Terra Cotta Warriors. The Terra Cotta Warriors were discovered in 1974 when local farmers were digging a well. These 6000 personalized, life-size warrior and horse figures are located in military formation in one of four pits of the tomb. You’ll see why they are one of the biggest archaeological finds of the 20th century, as well as one of China’s best attractions.
The Terra Cotta Warriors trace Xian’s status as the ceramics centre of China deep into history. Your next stop on the Best of China tour is a pottery workshop where you’ll see Xian’s pottery industry as it is today.
In the evening, you’ll enjoy a Tang Dynasty Show with a dumpling dinner. The Tang Dynasty is roughly synchronous with the some of the worst parts of Europe’s dark ages. However, while European kingdoms were squabbling for land and gold, China experienced a prosperous golden age. It was at this time that traditional Chinese folk dances and religious rituals began to become beautiful and graceful art forms. This show presents some of the best of this era in Chinese history: authentic Tang musical instruments, dance and narrative. This is a cultural experience that will take you back in time.

Day 7 Xian – Guilin (B/L)
After breakfast, you will fly to Guilin.
A short distance from the town, you’ll find the Reed Flute Cave, an underground cavern of rock formations in amazing shapes and colours. This cavern of natural art is named for the species of reed that grows nearby, known to make the best flutes. The cave is located in Guangming Mountain in northwest Guilin.

You’ll spend the night at the Park Hotel Guilin, which is located between the beautiful Lake Guihu and Mount Laoren.

Day 8 Guilin – Yangshuo (B/L)
A trip on the Lijiang (Li) River is the best part of a tour to Guilin. The river rises from Cat Mountain in Xing'an county to the northeast of Guilin and winds its way through Guilin and Yangshuo. A 40-kilometre cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is gorgeous and highly recommended to all visitors to the area.
Built during the Jin Dynasty, Yangshuo is an ancient city with over 1,000 years of history. It is famous for its karst landscape, which features thousands of limestone hills dotting the countryside. Yangshuo has some of the best scenic spots in China, including Bilian Feng (or Green Lotus Peak), JianshanMountain, Shutong Hill, YangshuoPark, and ChuanyanCave. In town, the busy West Street is a favourite among memento-seeking tourists. The fertile land around Yangshuo makes it one of the best spots in China to find fresh fruit. Here, you can sample delicious local citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines, pomelos and kumquats.  you’ll be driven back to Guilin

Day 9 Guilin (B)
Free day at leisure in Guilin.
Optional tour to Longsheng, the tour cost CAD145 per person.

Day 10  Guilin – Shanghai (B)
On the tenth day of your China holiday, catch a flight to Shanghai. There, you’ll meet your guide and transfer to the 5-star Ocean Hotel Shanghai. You’ll have the rest of the day to explore the nearby area.
Day 11 Shanghai  (B/L/D)
The rest of your Best of China Tour focuses on the beautiful attractions in Shanghai and nearby Suzhou.

First, you’ll visit Yu Yuan Garden. This 2-hectare Ming Dynasty garden features a maze of colourful pavilions, stone dragons, arching trees, ponds and flowers that surround an instantly recognizable zigzag bridge. The garden is located in the ancient City God Temple.
Next on your Shanghai tour, you’ll visit The Shanghai Museum, situated in People’s Square in the Huangpu District, features over 120,000 pieces of ancient Chinese art. It has a huge collection of Chinese and foreign pieces from all eras. The building itself is a piece of art, too. Its round top and a square base symbolize the ancient Chinese perception of the world as "round sky, square earth.”
The third stop in the Shanghai portion of your Best of China Tour is the Bund. The Bund is a busy 1.6 kilometre waterfront on the Huangpu River, once known as the Wall Street of Asia. It is dotted with grandiose buildings from the first half of the 20th century. The most elegant of these is the Peace Hotel, a recently remodeled tower that commands an excellent view of the city. Step off onto side streets to visit charming 1920s- and 1930s-style shops and restaurants.

You’ll visit Xintiandi and Pudong New Development Zone, an arts-and-crafts enclave that has developed from a renovated residential area in the French Concession area of Shanghai. It has become a popular tourist destination in Shanghai and is an example of preservation of local Shikumen architecture.

In the evening, enjoy an acrobatic show with dinner.

Day 12 Shanghai – Suzhou – Shanghai (B/L)
Day 12 includes a full day excursion to the Suzhou. Known as “the Venice of the East,” Suzhou’s 2500-year history has left it with some of the most beautiful sights in China.
The Master of Nets Garden is the smallest residential garden in Suzhou, but it is considered one of the best gardens in China due to its mastery of classic techniques.

Next stop on your classic China tour is a silk factory, where you can learn about the silk craft. There, you’ll have the chance to watch as silk worms eat mulberry leaves and spin cocoons.
Your classic China vacation package also includes a Grand Canal cruise. The Grand Canal is the longest artificial waterway in the world, with a length of 1,794 kilometres and a history of more than 2,400 years. The canal runs through eight provinces and 35 cities. It was once a major waterway linking Beijing and resource-rich Hangzhou. The Jiangsu section of the canal, still in use today, is 690 kilometers long.
Cruising on the Grand Canal is an unforgettable experience.  Dotting the way are little houses, red lanterns, local people using water taxis as public transport and cargo boats.  It truly paints a vivid picture of daily Suzhou life.

Visit Pingjiang Road Old Town Area.

Day 13 Shanghai (B)
Day 13 is a free day, during which you can explore the city, shop or relax.
Day 14 Depart Shanghai (B)
After breakfast, your Best of China tour is nearly over. Bid Shanghai farewell as you are transferred to the airport for your flight home. We hope you enjoyed your China holiday!
