Day 1-2 Home City - Beijing (D)
Board your transpacific direct flight to Beijing. Cross the international dateline and set your watch a day ahead. Welcome to Beijing, China’s capital city. Attend a welcome dinner and orientation.
Day 3 Beijing (B/L/D)
After breakfast, visit Tiananmen Square, considered to be the largest city square in the world, it is able to accommodate crowds of up to 1 million Chinese people. Enter the imperial walls of the ornate Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is currently a palace museum filled with various beautiful treasures; however, for approximately five hundred years it was the home of Chinese emperors and their royal families. The Forbidden City is the world’s largest surviving palace complex and is truly a breathtaking sight. Visit the pearl factory. Continue to the Summer Palace, the Imperial Garden of the Qing Dynasty.
Day 4 Beijing (B/L/D)
Full-day excursion to the ancient Great Wall, originally built as protection from the Huns and other Nomadic tribes, it never completely fulfilled its purpose. Lunch at a local restaurant. Visit a Jade factory. Continue from the Wall to the famous Ming Tombs, where there are 13 Ming Dynasty emperors buried. Special treat tonight: Beijing Roast Duck Dinner.
Day 5 Beijing – Yichang (B/L)
Visit the Temple of Heaven in the morning to watch or join the local people exercising, dancing and singing. After lunch, transfer to the airport and fly to the river town of Yichang. Upon arrival, transfer to Yichang Pier and board your 5-star cruise.
Day 6 Yangtze River Cruise (B/L/D)
Participate in guided Tai Chi in the early morning. Enjoy the stunning scenery as you sailing through Xiling Gorge. Embark on a shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam Site, the largest water conservancy project undertaken by man. Later, enjoy the spectacular sights while passing through the Three Gorges Dam 5-stage ship locks. In the evening, there will be a buffet dinner with Crew Cabaret.
Day 7 Three Gorges (B/L/D)
Participate in guided Tai Chi in the early morning as you sailing through Wu Gorge. Depending on the river conditions, there may be a shore excursion to Shennv Stream, which is a natural habitat of the mandarin ducks and golden-hair monkeys. After lunch, admire breathtaking sights of the narrow cliff walls and dramatic vistas in the Qutang Gorge.
Day 8 Yangtze River Cruise (B/L/D)
Participate in guided Tai Chi in the early morning. Later in the morning, take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai Temple “Pearl of the Yangtze”. Buffet dinner, Captain’s Farewell party and Chinese film tonight!
Day 9 Chongqing – Xian (B/D)
Arrive in Chongqing, home to over 30 million people. Before flying to Xian, visit the City Zoo to see the lovely pandas having fun. Xian was the first capital of a united China under the First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Xian was also the starting point of the Silk Road. Visit the Ancient City Wall that surrounds this ancient capital. Enjoy the Tang Dynasty Dancing Show and Dumpling Banquet.
Day 10 Xian – Hangzhou (B/L/D)
Explore the famous Terra Cotta Museum. Local farmers discovered the Terra Cotta Warriors in 1974 while digging a well. Little did they know that their discovery would turn out to be one of the most astounding archeological finds of the 20th century. The underground battle formation in Pit 1 is comprised of 6,000 life-size clay warriors and horses; the soldiers stand in military formation in infantry battle order facing east with some armor, but no helmets. Made of local clay, no two faces are alike; each weighing over 300 kilograms and standing about 1.86 metres tall. En route, visit the Art Ceramic & Lacquer factory. After dinner, transfer to the airport and fly to the romantic city of Hangzhou.
Day 11 Hangzhou - Suzhou (B/L/D)
Start a cruise in West Lake, which is surrounded on three sides by rolling wooded hills. Then visit Longjing, the home village of the world famous Longjing Dragon Well Green Tea. Take a walk along Hefang Old Street, which is a lively pedestrian shopping street featuring a variety of Chinese crafts, snacks, silk, tea houses, old fashion movie players, bonsai shops and souvenirs. Continue the bus ride to Suzhou.
Day 12 Suzhou – Shanghai (B/L/D)
Visit the Lingering Garden, a renowned classical Chinese garden. Followed by a visit to the Silk factory where the traditional technique of producing silk will be demonstrated. City tour and some free time in the old town of Suzhou. Visit the Chinese folk Art Embroidery Institute and then continue the drive to Shanghai.
Day 13 Shanghai (B/L/D)
After breakfast start your city tour. Climb up the Jin Mao Mansion to get a bird’s eye view of China’s financial capital. Visit a silk rug factory before a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, explore Cheng Huang Miao Old Town bazaar. Also, visit the Bund, once known as the Wall Street of Asia, lined with 1930's-era buildings, it is China's most famous waterfront. See Nanjing Road, home to a number of large shops and boutiques. Farewell Shanghainese dim sum.
Day 14 Shanghai – Home City (B)
Say goodbye to China as you board your transpacific flight home.
